London, November 24, 2022
As the world moves rapidly towards greener transport and more efficient energy use and storage, the International Lithium Association (ILiA), the not-for-profit industry association representing the global lithium value chain, today announces a partnership with a leading Chinese metal market news company, Shanghai Metals Market (SMM).
SMM will provide ILiA members with exclusive quarterly webinars which focus on the Chinese lithium value chain. SMM is a major news and price provider to the Chinese metals industry so its membership in the ILiA community is a sign of the Association’s growing international standing. ILiA’s core members now account for approximately 85% of current global lithium production.
The first SMM webinar is proposed for late-January 2023. This agreement is in the same spirit and style as IliA’s successful partnership with leading global commodity research and consultancy business, Wood Mackenzie and will mean that IliA’s members get a total of eight exclusivelithium market webinars each year.
“This is the lithium century and it is imperative that we work together to ensure that knowledge is disseminated so the lithium century achieves its full potential” said Anand Sheth, Founding Chairman of ILiA. “ILiA is delighted to welcome SMM to the ILiA community,” he added.
Adam Fan, CEO of SMM said: “Lithium has received great attention from around the globe as a key metal element in the new energy industry. In addition, global cooperation is key as lithium reserves are concentrated in several countries, while the processing and consumption is in other locations. SMM will work closely with ILiA to facilitate and deepen global lithium cooperation. SMM contributes to the rational pricing of lithium in the global market.”
